It's Weird, it's Ugly, it's Brilliant

The Gunting may be one of the strangest Spydercos that I've handled but it's fantastic. The blade shape is very practical and the forward jimped 'fin' allows for a uniquely positive opening experience. The Gunting was one of the first Spydercos to feature the compression lock which is actually backwards compared to what we're used to these days. Also the blade detent is very interesting, the lock-bar locates into a ground out portion of the blade seen on the non-showside of the blade. This is in great condition, the blade is pristine, the knife ha seen some carry and the G10 scales have some draw marks and are a little bit shiny from pocket-time. The pocketclip also is crazed with small scratches. Very rare and very collectible, don't miss out on this unique Spydie. Complete with box.

The Spyderco Gunting, designed by Grand Master and Martial Arts Hall of Famer Bram Frank, is a highly specialised folding knife tailored for MBC (Martial Blade Craft) applications. Developed as both a precision cutting tool and a non-lethal impact instrument, the Gunting supports a broad range of self-defence techniques, making it a favourite among law enforcement and military professionals worldwide.

Built for versatility, the Gunting features a series of strategically placed protrusions on both the handle and blade, designed for pressure point manipulation—similar to a traditional Yawara stick. These allow the tool to be used effectively for non-cutting strikes, enabling control and compliance without excessive force. Ideal for targeting sensitive areas like the hands, arms, face, and neck, it’s a non-lethal option for disarming or disabling an aggressor.

The blade is crafted from hollow-ground CPM S30V stainless steel, offering excellent edge retention and corrosion resistance. A distinctive horn on the blade further aids in pressure point control and allows for kinetic opening—a rapid deployment technique Bram Frank teaches globally through his company, Common Sense Self Defence (CSSD). Alternatively, the blade can be deployed using Spyderco’s signature Round Hole.

The Gunting’s handle is fitted with durable G-10 scales and features the robust Compression Lock®, one of Spyderco’s strongest locking mechanisms, rated at MBC-level strength. This lock is engineered to withstand extreme lateral force, providing both safety and stability during high-stress use.

A unique spoon-shaped pocket clip features an indexing divot, mirrored on both sides of the handle, allowing the user to rotate the knife into various grip positions with precision and ease.

Manufactured in Golden, Colorado, the Spyderco Gunting has been discontinued and is no longer in production—making it a highly sought-after collector’s piece as well as a functional, tactical tool.
