Apex Predator
The Spyderco Kapara is inspired by Australian custom knifemaker Alistair Phillips’ popular "Redback" folder design. Named after a venomous Australian spider distinguished by a red stripe along its abdomen, the Kapara (which shares the same name as the redback spider) faithfully captures Phillips’ signature craftsmanship, including the iconic red backspacer found in his custom knives.
Originally designed by Phillips as a personal carry knife for food-prep, the Kapara features a full-flat ground CPM® S30V® that deftly handles culinary cutting tasks and beyond. This blade delivers exceptional edge geometry for superior cutting performance and is equipped with Spyderco’s Trademark Round Hole™ for easy, one-handed opening from either side. A fantastic SpydieFlick-er too!
"Many people consider the Kapara to be of superior design than even the mighty PM2." - Mr Narwhal
Elegant and Practical
The elegant handle incorporates full, skeletonised stainless steel liners for enhanced structural strength, forming the foundation for the Compression Lock® mechanism. It is topped with high-quality solid carbon fibre scales, precisely crowned for a secure and comfortable grip. The blade also features an index-finger choil at its base, allowing for improved control and highlighting the finely machined details on both sides of the blade's pivot. It disappears in the hand.
For secure and convenient carry, the Kapara includes a reversible, deep-pocket wire clip.
