Timeless Character
The G-Sakai Fisher Folding Knife is a distinctive and rarely encountered design created by Japanese custom maker Masao Takahashi and manufactured in Seki, Japan by G‑Sakai. Imported and distributed by Spyderco, this elegant folding knife reflects the refined craftsmanship for which the Seki region is renowned. With its long, slender profile and traditional styling, the Fisher was conceived as a practical field companion suited to delicate outdoor tasks, particularly those requiring precise control and a narrow cutting profile. The polished black linen Micarta handle scales and satin nickel silver bolsters lend the knife a classic, almost gentlemanly appearance, while its slim construction keeps it discreet and comfortable to carry.
This example is near mint having seemingly never been carried or used. There is however some light pitting on the bolster, pictured. Original branded carry pouch included, no box.

Slim & Sleek
Technically, the knife features a 3¾-inch satin-finished blade crafted from AUS-6 stainless steel, offering dependable corrosion resistance and ease of sharpening. When open the knife measures approximately 9¼ inches overall, yet remains impressively slim at under 7/16 inch thick. Steel liners, back springs and pins provide solid structural integrity, while the blade’s subtle false edge adds both visual character and improved piercing geometry. The blade is marked “G. Sakai – Design by M. Takahashi” with a traditional “Seki-Japan” tang stamp, reinforcing its authentic heritage. Elegant, well balanced and rarely seen today, the Fisher Folding Knife represents a fascinating piece of Spyderco’s early Japanese manufacturing history.
