The Coolest Spyderco
Named after the Japanese word for “spider”, the Kumo reflects a strong blend of Japanese design influence and contemporary craftsmanship within Spyderco’s fixed blade range. Designed by renowned custom knifemaker R.J. Martin, the Kumo carries the sleek, flowing lines that define his work, combining visual precision with purposeful functionality. Its streamlined profile and layered grind geometry give the knife a distinctly refined presence, balancing clean aesthetics with confident cutting performance.
***IMPORTANT*** - This example is unfortunately missing the sheath and original box, it is BLADE ONLY. The item condition is unused.
"Exceptionally rare, the Kumo is in my humble opinion, the coolest fixed blade they've ever made. This example is missing the original sheath but I suspect that this is a knife that you'll want to have on display." - Mr. Narwhal
Japanese Craftsmanship
Crafted from a solid piece of VG-10 stainless steel, the Kumo features a sophisticated blade design incorporating both a swedge grind along the spine and a hollow grind behind the cutting edge. The convergence of these grind lines creates a finely tapered profile that enhances cutting efficiency while maintaining strength and balance in hand. Strategic jimping positioned where the thumb naturally rests improves grip security and control during detailed tasks. Equally distinctive is the handle construction, which pairs epoxy-saturated cord wrapping with an underlayer of textured black stingray skin, an exceptionally intricate process that proved notoriously difficult to manufacture consistently. Adding a final signature touch, a silver Spyderco bug menuki subtly emerges through the wrap, reinforcing the knife’s strong Japanese influence and highly refined presentation.
