Legendary Avocado
The Spyderco Military is one of the designs that helped establish Spyderco as a serious force in modern high-performance folding knives, and this River’s Edge Cutlery exclusive gives Sal Glesser’s classic design a particularly distinctive treatment. Known affectionately as the “Avocado”, this limited configuration combines rich olive-drab green G-10 with a contrasting Flat Dark Earth PVD-coated blade and black hardware, creating an earthy colour combination that is immediately recognisable without resorting to conventional camouflage. Beneath the distinctive finish is the original Military’s wonderfully purposeful design: a generous, fully flat-ground blade, exceptionally slim handle and superbly balanced proportions. For enthusiasts, the appeal goes beyond the colourway; this is a dealer-exclusive interpretation of one of Spyderco’s landmark designs, produced in Golden, Colorado with American-made CTS-204P steel.

The Military, REC Style
The 4-inch blade is ground from CTS-204P, a premium American particle-metallurgy stainless steel closely related to the composition of steels such as CPM 20CV and Bohler M390. Its high chromium, molybdenum and vanadium content provides an excellent combination of corrosion resistance, wear resistance and edge retention, making it particularly well suited to the Military’s large full-flat-ground blade. The blade receives a Flat Dark Earth PVD coating, giving the knife its characteristic “Avocado” contrast while providing a hard, wear-resistant surface treatment. The handle uses textured olive-drab G-10 over stainless-steel liners, with Spyderco’s proven liner lock securing the blade and the trademark Round Hole providing ambidextrous opening. A black four-position hourglass clip allows tip-up or tip-down carry on either side, while the original Military’s generous 9.5-inch open length and approximately 4.2 oz weight make this a remarkably capable yet surprisingly manageable large-format EDC. It is a particularly appealing combination of Spyderco heritage, premium steel and one of the company’s most recognisable exclusive colourways.
