British Design. Spyderco Engineering.
The PITS 2 is the second-generation collaboration between Spyderco and British knifemaker Mike Read, whose work is particularly renowned for refined non-locking folding knives. Building on the distinctive design philosophy of the original PITS—short for “Pie in the Sky”, Read’s username on British knife forums—the PITS 2 takes Spyderco’s SLIPIT™ concept in a more sophisticated direction. Its elegant, symmetrical form combines minimalist aesthetics with ingenious engineering, making it an especially compelling choice for enthusiasts who appreciate traditional non-locking folders but expect modern materials, precision manufacturing and genuinely innovative design. The result is a compact, beautifully executed folder that feels equally at home as an everyday companion or a specialist addition to a Spyderco collection.
"Perhaps the coolest UK friendly carry there is." - Mr. Narwhal

The PITS 2’s most distinctive feature is its ingenious non-locking mechanism, formed by two integral spring arms machined directly into the solid 6AL-4V titanium handle scales. As the blade opens, the forward sections of these arms flex to apply pressure against the pivot and allow the notched-joint mechanism to bear firmly against the stop pin. The handle scales receive a refined matte finish and are paired with a full-flat-ground blade made from Böhler-Uddeholm M390 particle metallurgy stainless steel, finished with a clean satin surface. A fully accessible Spyderco Trademark Round Hole provides convenient one-handed opening, while the reversible tip-up pocket clip makes carry completely ambidextrous. Combining British custom-knife design with Spyderco’s engineering expertise, the PITS 2 is an exceptionally distinctive expression of the SLIPIT concept.
