A True Spyderco Curiosity
The Spyderco SpyderCard is one of the most unusual and historically significant designs in the company’s back catalogue. Introduced around the turn of the millennium, the SC01 was conceived around a remarkably simple idea: create a genuine folding knife that could occupy little more space than a credit card. Designed by Eduard Bradichansky, the SpyderCard was among the earliest purpose-built credit-card-style folding knives and demonstrated Spyderco’s willingness to explore unconventional formats long before ultra-compact wallet carry became commonplace. Now long discontinued and increasingly difficult to find, the SpyderCard has developed a strong following among collectors of unusual and early Spyderco designs.
This example is in pristine, as new condition and is complete with original box. (A proper grey Spyderco box, not a horrible clamshell).

One of the Rarest Early Spydercos
The SpyderCard combines a 72 mm AUS-6 stainless steel blade with a remarkably flat, rounded stainless steel handle measuring just 87 mm closed. The blade features Spyderco’s Trademark Round Hole for convenient one-handed opening, while the handle incorporates a cleverly positioned access hole for disengaging the integral locking mechanism. Available in both PlainEdge and partially serrated configurations, the original design offered a full-sized cutting tool in a format measuring approximately 2.25 mm thick and weighing just 93 g. Its bead-blasted stainless steel construction gives the entire knife a clean, understated appearance, while the broad, flat handle was also particularly well suited to engraving or personalisation. With its distinctive proportions, pioneering wallet-friendly format and increasingly scarce availability, the SpyderCard remains one of the most memorable and collectible examples of Spyderco’s early design experimentation.
