The TOPS Knives Zero Dark 30 is a substantial fixed-blade design that captures the straightforward, uncompromising character for which TOPS has become known. Designed by the TOPS team and made in the USA, it combines a long, cleanly proportioned 1095 blade with a simple full-tang construction and generously sized Micarta handle. The name and styling draw from the military expression “zero dark thirty”, but beneath that theme is a remarkably straightforward piece of American knife-making: a substantial blade, highly tactile handle and rugged construction without unnecessary complication. This example is in excellent condition. Unsharpened spine. Unused and uncarried, there is a small chip in the coating on the exposed tang. Complete with original sheath.

TOPS, Built Large
The 6-inch blade is ground from 0.190-inch-thick 1095 high-carbon steel and finished in TOPS’ Black Traction Coating, which provides a durable, low-reflective surface while helping protect the underlying carbon steel. TOPS heat treats its 1095 to approximately 56–58 HRC, favouring a useful balance of toughness and straightforward field sharpening. The full-tang construction is enclosed by black linen Micarta scales featuring TOPS’ Rocky Mountain Tread pattern, giving the handle a distinctly tactile surface and a secure, comfortable feel through prolonged use. At 12 inches overall, the Zero Dark 30 is a substantial knife without becoming excessively heavy, and it is supplied with a black ballistic-nylon sheath incorporating a MOLLE-compatible backing system. Made in the USA, it is a particularly representative example of TOPS’ rugged, functional approach to fixed-blade design.
