The Benchmade 741 Lum Onslaught is a striking piece of Benchmade history, bringing the distinctive design language of legendary Japanese-American maker Bob Lum to one of the company's most substantial folders. Introduced in 2010, the Onslaught was Lum's first design for Benchmade to feature the AXIS Lock, combining its sweeping modified clip-point profile with the clean, purposeful lines and exceptional balance associated with his work. Now discontinued, the 741 has become a particularly appealing model for collectors and enthusiasts of Benchmade's earlier designs, with its large proportions and unmistakable Lum character setting it apart from more conventional modern EDC folders.

Benchmade History

The 741 features a 4.28-inch modified clip-point blade in 154CM stainless steel, with an ambidextrous thumb-hole opener and a substantial yet relatively slim 0.121-inch blade stock. Its black G-10 handle scales are fitted over 420J stainless steel liners, with Benchmade's AXIS Lock providing smooth ambidextrous operation. A tip-up black steel pocket clip completes the configuration, while the 9.63-inch open length and 6.96 oz weight give the Onslaught a distinctly substantial presence in the hand. Made in the USA, it is a memorable example of the design-led Benchmade folders of its era.
